Fairly Big Farm
Lessons, Boarding and Training
Fairly Big Farm is a family operated horse farm in Goodwood, Ontario, Canada. Our 28 acre property is situated in the heart of The Oak Ridges Moraine providing an idyllic setting for your riding and training pursuits. We're only minutes away from Hwy's 404 and 407 - making us a simple commute from the heart of Toronto.
We are blessed with the most wonderful group of horses and ponies at FBF.
Most of them have been, or still are, show horses., with dressage, show jumping and eventing backgrounds.
Hacking (trail riding) is a very important part of what we do, so in order to be a school horse at Fairly Big Farm, all horses must be safe to hack independently and in groups.
We have a selection of horses from 13.1hh ponies, to 16.2hh draft crosses. Both children and adults can be well accommodated by our herd.
Our horses receive regular care from our fantastic team comprised of our stable manager, veterinarians, farrier, and saddle fitter.
This care ensures that they are healthy, sound and happy. A happy horse makes for a safe and enjoyable
At Fairly Big Farm you receive only the best instruction. With our fantastic school horses and ponies, Terri-Lynn and her team of extensively experienced instructors are able to offer lessons for all from the absolute beginner to the seasoned rider.
Beginner lessons start off in the barn, learning to safely work around and prepare the horses for riding. Grooming and tacking up are part of the lesson, with the goal being that more experienced riders will then do this on their own.
Lessons take place in our spacious indoor arena, and when the rider has good basic control of their horse, we move to one of our several outdoor riding areas.
Riders learn to manage their mounts outdoors, which enables them to safely hack (trail ride) after their lessons. Some lessons occur with our instructors\ themselves mounted, so as to provide demonstrations to their students.
Most lessons are private and semi-private so as to provide careful and detailed instruction. Private lessons are best for new riders, but semi-private provide a sense of comradery and fun - especially when hacking after successful lesson.
Experienced riders take advantage of our show jumping and dressage rings, as well as all the jumps in our cross-country park.
Off-site schooling and showing is also available. We regularly attend the Trilogy Series of Combined Shows (show jumping and dressage), and Ontario Eventing Association Events.
Terri-Lynn and her family live at Fairly Big Farm, so you can feel comfortable knowing that knowledgeable horse people are always on site to care for your horses.
Our renovated bank barns contain 13 large, safe, and airy stalls. Indoor and outdoor tack-up areas and a washstall are available to all boarders.
FBF boasts a well lit 70' X 160' indoor arena opened in November 2010. The oversized arena provides ample room for all.
Our outdoor dressage ring and large grass show jumping area have excellent sandy footing. There is also an extensive selection of X-country fences throughout the property and groomed trails.
Our paddocks are cleaned regularly, and contain shelters. Water troughs are heated throughout the winter. Your horses are always safe and secure.
